The calcium hardness reading indicates the amount of dissolved calcium in pool water. The ideal range for calcium is between 200 and 300.

Proper Calcium Ranges:
Pool Type Range
Plaster Pools 200-400
Vinyl and other types of pools 175-300

Results when calcium hardness is out of balance:
Calcium levels are too LOW:
- Etches plaster.
- Increases corrosion to pool.
- Shorter plaster life.
- Shorter vinyl life.
- Rough plaster.
- Minute pores for algae roots.

Calcium levels are too HIGH:
- Scale forming on all surfaces.
- Pool circulation is reduced when scales form on pipes.
- Causes heater scale.
- Discolors plaster.
- Rough surface (hard to clean).

Adjusting Calcium Hardness:
To INCREASE, use Orca Pacific's Calcium Increaser.
To LOWER, dilute with FRESH water.

Note: Calcium Hardness can increase initially 50 to 75 ppm in newly plastered pools, as plaster cures.
